This program, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, will explore the vibrant movement to end violence against women in Topeka and throughout the world. YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment Education Coordinator and UUFT member Laura Burton will share some of the dynamic history of one of the earliest rallying points for feminists and pressing questions for today's advocates: has the movement become co-opted by oppressive systems? Do events like Stutwalks help or hinder? What role do men and boys have to play in ending violence? The congregation will also hear about ways to help local survivors of violence and prevention efforts.
