A colleague once wrote, "We have been allotted two ears but only one mouth and tongue - and probably for a very good reason." Others have noted that one of the most frustrating aspects of the world today is nobody listens to anyone else - if you are sick or dying or bewildered or frightened or lost or lonely or bereaved or confused or lecturing in class, nobody really listens. Robert Maidment said "Hearing is one miracle; really listening to what we say to each other is another." Phil Roudebush will explore the characteristics of a bad listener and how we can overcome these attributes to improve our ability to make a difference in each others lives.
